Introducing our latest unique Aussie rod design for barra and cod anglers, the BarraRip! This is designed to be an easy-casting, easy fighting, all-rounder for lake and larger river fishing.
The recommended 20-70g lure weight range covers a wide range of popular barra lures, from the ever-popular ‘Slick Rig’ to emerging greats like the Live Mullet, and up to larger swimbaits of 2oz+ weight.
The 7’3” length is ideal for both hitting the weed edges and also fishing with FFS; short enough to pitch close casts and long enough to reach fish that are still totally unaware of the boat’s presence.
The action and power of the BarraRip really sets it apart. The blank feels both limber and powerful at the same time, allowing for easy casting as the progressive action loads smoothly under the weight of the lure. And when fighting fish in open water a slightly gentler approach can be taken which often results in bringing barra to the net more easily and hook holds maintained.
But if you are in the timber or around other structure the low-down power of the BarraRip can quickly be called upon!
With this rod model we’re incorporating the G-Clutch handle for the ultimate in feedback and comfort! Based on an innovative new reel seat design that is totally minimalist - in fact the reel seat has uninterrupted blank exposure underneath - the sensitivity is off the charts! And there are absolutely no exposed locking hoods, nuts or threaded sections either. So it comes to hand so comfortably it’s actually difficult to feel where the handle finishes and the blank starts!
Blank construction is the new ‘Armour 40-5’. This all new blank technology is the ultimate in blank reinforcement that runs from butt to tip – the optimal solution to create a more robust blank while maintaining the sensitivity we expect from Millerods!
The multi-guide train features 11 guides plus tip-top in Fuji’s Fazlite ceramic. This further enhances the smooth action, and provides exceptional line control.
Of course, our custom exclusive anti-tangle hook keeper will be there at hand to keep your lure at the ready, but otherwise virtually disappears.
The ergonomic G-Clutch handle also features extra-firm EVA to transfer energy and avoid hand fatigue, and all finished off with our non-skid rubber edged butt cap. This is truly a rod for barra and cod anglers everywhere!
^Millerods recommends the use of the FG knot for connecting braided fishing lines to monofilament leaders. All Ian’s lure casting guide trains are selected with this connecting knot in mind.
