Trellys Fishing Report

Bendigo Fishing Report – Week Ending June 11, 2025
Goulburn River
The winter season marks the open season for the Murray Spiny Crayfish. Store managers Justin and Karen headed over with the family for opening and managed to get onto a few including a few keepers. Bait such as chicken, pumpkin, carp carcass and dog food are all working well to attract the crayfish. Remember to release any female crayfish with berry (eggs under their tail) quickly.
Lake Eppalock
Lake Eppalock is currently at 58.1% capacity, with releases increased to 800 ML/day to manage the rate of fill. Even after the King’s Birthday long weekend we didn’t hear too many reports from anglers at Eppalock with the cold and wet weather causing lots of fishos to keep indoors for the weekend.
We continue to recommend that the key to success is persistence so if you want to catch that big one, get out there! Don’t forget to take out a few hard body divers to troll, and a few vibe and soft plastic lures to entice a strike out of those redfin, cod and yellowbelly.
Campaspe River
This week, the Campaspe has jumped back up hitting 1.8m thanks to most likely this past week's rainfall, with flows now hitting 152ML/day, up from last week’s 70ML/day. So be sure to consider taking some heavier sinkers along if you plan on fishing bait.
We suggest you keep throwing a few surface lures in the morning and afternoon at those sweet hours. Keep trying to entice cod out of their hiding places as it’s going to take just a little more to get that strike out of them at this time of the year. Our current top pick in the area is still the Bassman "Codman" spinnerbait; concentrate on casting the spinnerbait tight to the snag, before slow rolling your retrieve back to the boat/bank throughout the day.
If you're not so much in the mood for flicking lures, for bait we suggest you keep sticking to the grubs and chicken in some of those deep holes around some corners of the river or even a little downstream from them.
Cairn Curran Reservoir
With water levels holding still, Cairn Curran Reservoir is currently sitting at 39.8% capacity.
The cooler weather has seen the fishing really quieten off of late with most anglers reporting tough days on the water. The opportunity is still there however to stumble upon some quality Murray cod and Golden Perch that call Cairn Curran home. Continue to try trolling some medium-depth hardbody lures in the 6–8 m range in the reservoir and throw a few vibe lures like the Jackall TN60’s below the reservoir on the Loddon River.
Additionally, if you head a little downstream, try your luck flicking a few spinnerbaits around. The Bassman ‘Codman’ lure being a great choice, which our Bendigo store is still offering a Buy 2, Get 1 Free!
Loddon River
After this week's rain the Loddon’s flow has held steady at 400ML/day. The rainfall in the district saw a small rise in these levels but has since dropped back to 0.46m (the same as last week).
We suggest a similar strategy to our Campaspe River recommendations for fishing at the moment, with a slight emphasis on bait fishing. Try using chicken or grubs as they have been pulling fish pretty consistently. If you are throwing lures, try to cast near structures and work your lures slowly.
Bridgewater is definitely worth a visit if you have a free day, of course after stopping by the store to pick up a few Codger or Oldmate lures. Some nice fish have been reported along the banks around the caravan park and after the days fishing perhaps end the evening with dinner or drinks at the Bridgewater Hotel.
Serpentine is also worth a look with a couple of anglers encountering some solid fish in recent weeks whilst trolling spinnerbaits and hardbodies.
Torrumbarry
Despite the poor weather on the long weekend, a few keen fishos pulled in some impressive cod and yellowbelly at Torrumbarry. While numbers weren’t high, the size of the fish were so. If you're heading over we suggest using some larger soft plastics with treble hooks such as the Spinwright swim jigs or if you're trolling some Old Mate 25ft lures.
